Sherburn Past, Present and Future – Stories for all the family
Legend has it that in the aftermath of the Battle of Towton in March 1461 the new Yorkist King Edward IV climbed to the top of the church tower in Sherburn in Elmet and looked out across the landscape to see what he could see.
What he saw was a glittering pond; a deep deep well; a tiny mouse scuttling through a cornfield; an ogre rampaging through the woods; and a little man wrapped in a starry cloak sneaking his way into the village of Sherburn to try to find somewhere to stay for the night.
Each of these things leads to a story, let’s see how many of them we can remember! Here’s a flavour of a few – we’ll adapt them on the day to suit the audience’s age (0-99 catered for) and preferences (do you love a bit of suspense? can you cope with some mild peril? How about a dash of romance??!!) with lots of props to handle so you can really get stuck in to creating the scene.
