A powerful and emotionally rich historical drama, Hamnet reimagines the family life of William Shakespeare and his wife Agnes Hathaway as they navigate love, ambition, and devastating loss.

Set in late 16th‑century England, the story follows Agnes – a gifted herbalist deeply connected to the natural world – and William, a young tutor with dreams of the theatre. Their world is transformed by the birth of their children, including twins Judith and Hamnet, whose fate becomes the emotional heart of the film.

Directed by Chloé Zhao and adapted from Maggie O’Farrell’s award‑winning novel, the film stars Jessie Buckley as Agnes and Paul Mescal as William, with Emily WatsonJoe Alwyn, and Jacobi Jupe in supporting roles. Their performances bring depth and tenderness to a story that explores how grief shapes art, family, and legacy.

A beautifully crafted, critically acclaimed drama – perfect for an atmospheric evening at The Old Girls’ School.
